Winter Warming 2024

July 26th 2024 presented an event initiative between the Shire of Mount Magnet and Mount Magnet District High School. Senior community members were treated to a twist on the old fashioned “Christmas in July”. Students from the High School prepared, cooked and served a traditional Christmas dinner to the seniors.

This initiative gave students the opportunity to increase employability skills and gain real world skills in Hospitality and Customer Service. Youth participants earnt themselves Food Safety Certificates prior to the event and were presented with certificates and reference letters from the Shire to add to their resumes for future career prospects.

The event also gave our Senior members of the community and opportunity to get to know the youth of our town and increase community connections.
