About Mount Magnet

Mount Magnet is a well-established town with a colourful history, local characters and many modern services.

The Mount Magnet Township is located 567 kilometres north of Perth, encompasses 13,877 square kilometres in area and has a population of approximately 450 people. The township of Mount Magnet lies at the foot of a prominent mount called Warramboo Hill. The town of Mount Magnet is the major residential area in the Shire, although the ‘vacant’ towns of Lennonville and Boogardie are also located in the Shire.

The mining and pastoral industries form the economic base of the Shire with tourism becoming an important contributor to the economy.

With numerous historical buildings, heritage sites and walk trails Mount Magnet offers visitors to the area a fantastic insight into years gone by. Whether you visit overnight or for an extended stay, Mount Magnet offers a great array of accommodation and general services.
